An Update To Authors Who Have Submitted Stories

First, we want to thank you for your submission to "I Didn't Get Old Being Stupid."

We realize you'd like to know whether your story will be accepted, but we simply aren't in a position to make that determination yet. It's not that we don't want to; it's just that there are only two of us and we're reviewing more than 1,200 submissions (with new submissions still arriving). We're working as hard and as fast as we can, but this project has taken far more time than we expected. We really would like to let you know when you can expect to hear from us, and we apologize for these delays. But rather than guess at when this process will be completed, we invite you to check back at this portion of our website for future updates.

Second, we've also suspended our March 31, 2007 deadline, pending news from our literary agent, so we are still open to receiving additional submissions. If you'd like to submit another story, or encourage others to do so, we'd welcome those submissions, too.

Finally, some authors have contacted us with concerns that other publications have expressed interest in their stories. They wonder if they should accept the new offer or wait to hear from us. Since it would quickly become unwieldy to deal with each author's individual circumstances, we can only offer a general suggestion. Our advice would be to accept an alternate publisher's offer and either (1) notify us that your submission is no longer available for consideration, or (2) submit another story to us in its place. We wouldn't want you to miss an opportunity to be published, even if it ultimately won't be in "I Didn't Get Old Being Stupid."

Again, thank you for sharing your story with us, and thank you for your patience, as well.

Yours sincerely,

FFrank Miles
